Well they are building a new house next to us. They have begun digging up the ground today. It’s early, but it looks like the back deck will be facing ours. I guess it might be time to plant some large bushes or make the fence taller. Ugh.

New house on the block

So we have this new house being built on the corner. When they poured the concrete it looks small so we sort wondered what was up. Well they started the second floor today. It is going to have an entire full-sized floor up top. That will make this new house look entirely different than every other house in the neighborhood. It is also right on the corner, the first thing you see when you come in. I really hope they can make it blend in with the exterior colors. Either way it is going to stick out like a sore thumb.

What a mess!

They are building another new house on our street and they have made a complete mess of the street and empty lots. I guess we have a lot of red clay around us. They have made 3-4 large piles of the stuff and while they have been moving it around with their back hoe, they have dropped it all over the road. Everyone’s driveway and cars are completely covered with it. So far we have not tracked any into our house. I hope we get enough rain and snow soon to wash it away. The loose gravel they put everywhere is another story. I have a feeling our neighborhood is going to be messy for a while.

New Master Bath!

With the gift cards we received for Christmas, we used them to give our master bath a makeover. We had not painted it since we moved in, so it was time! We bought all new towels, rug, shower curtain, trash can, paint and a wall cabinet. We also used the pictures Linda bought us for our wedding to give it some color. They match really well! The whole room took us about seven hours, but man it looks awesome. I have posted some pictures, but since the room is a bit small it was hard to get a nice shot.

We are going to use the old shower curtain, rug and towels in the bathroom upstairs. I will give it some new paint another time. We are going with a worldly theme up there.

Taxes

Received a letter in the mail today saying our house taxes were reaccessed and our house payment is going up $222 a month. Might put a kink in things like eating! Hehe not really, but it sure does suck. I knew we were going to get bit in the ass last year when they accessed our house as a lot. Thank you Greene County. Anyone have an evening job I can work? Weekends?
