With the gift cards we received for Christmas, we used them to give our master bath a makeover. We had not painted it since we moved in, so  it was time! We bought all new towels, rug, shower curtain, trash can, paint and a wall cabinet. We also used the pictures Linda bought us for our wedding to give it some color. They match really well! The whole room took us about seven hours, but man it looks awesome. I have posted some pictures, but since the room is a bit small it was hard to get a nice shot.

We are going to use the old shower curtain, rug and towels in the bathroom upstairs. I will give it some new paint another time. We are going with a worldly theme up there.

Sarah and I had our Christmas tonight. She cooked up a fantastic Pad Thai that is far better than what you can get at Thai Express, no lie. It was spicy and delicious. We had a great Christmas exchange tonight. I got everything I asked for and she got everything on her list. It was a lot of fun tonight. I received a kick ass coat!  We also got a really cool wireless sound system for the back porch. I think it will come in handy.

I am so excited about tomorrow. We get to see John, Crystal, Romain and Sherry! We don’t get to spend enough time with them.

Today was my last day at the office until January 4th. Holy crap it was busy too. The office let out a little early, but I had to stay an extra hour to try to wrap some stuff up. Wow, did this year blow by quickly. I have a feeling we are going to be super busy next year. I already have 5 meetings scheduled the week we all come back!

Tonight is our office xmas party at one of the partner’s house. It should be a really great time! I am going to try not to drink too much because tomorrow might be pretty busy.

Yay, vacation!

Check out our awesome new Christmas tree! I put it up yesterday and Sarah decorated it this afternoon. It looks really nice in person. The picture I have doesn’t do it justice. When Sarah was putting on the lights she fell of the chair into the tree! She was a little scuffed and a few branches were bent, but they both survived. I have no idea why the tree did not tip over! It was super difficult to keep from laughing.

Today, I put up our Christmas lights on the house. I had bought a fancy pole and clips to try to make it easier and possibly avoid a ladder. That pole kit was annoying and worthless! Maybe if I had some trees it would have worked well, but not the house. I went back to my tried and true method of using the tiny clips. This year I knew what I was doing and it only took me about an hour. I even felt fine on the ladder. The lights look really good. I also got our fancy new 9 foot tall Christmas tree put up. Sarah is going to decorate it later this week. I’ll post some photos when we are finished.

So glad the sun is out today. It has been really hard to wake up the past few days. Only four more working days until I’m off for 5 days for the Thanksgiving holiday. I cannot wait. I am so so ready for a few days off.

Tim and I will be decorating for Christmas and putting up the tree, which I’m really looking forward to. I love all the holiday decor, lights and general festive ambiance that the holidays bring.

This is the time of year I’m most like my mom because all I want to do is decorate and bake cookies! We had a three story house growing up and every single floor was decked out in holiday gear. My mom also spent countless hours baking and making homemade candy. I’m not sure I’ve got her skills in that department, but it sure was fun to watch and provided for some fantastical memories of me sitting alongside mom on my bar stool “helping” her create various treats. The sugar cookies were the most fun for me. I absolutely loved rolling out the dough, finding just the right cookie cutter and then applying icing and sprinkles. We would decorate cookies for hours!  Ahhh the holidays…..  I just might need to get some recipes from mom!
