Sarah and I had our Christmas tonight. She cooked up a fantastic Pad Thai that is far better than what you can get at Thai Express, no lie. It was spicy and delicious. We had a great Christmas exchange tonight. I got everything I asked for and she got everything on her list. It was a lot of fun tonight. I received a kick ass coat! We also got a really cool wireless sound system for the back porch. I think it will come in handy.

We had my mom’s birthday at our hour tonight. Sarah made some delicious potato soup and I made my award winning chipotl chili. They both turned out really well. I wish I had not turned both crock pots on high though because the were both 150 degrees! They almost burned through the plastic bowls. Oops! After the chili and soup cooled down they were pretty tasty. I think everyone had a pretty good time. We’ll have to have more wine next time! Happy birthday mum!

So glad the sun is out today. It has been really hard to wake up the past few days. Only four more working days until I’m off for 5 days for the Thanksgiving holiday. I cannot wait. I am so so ready for a few days off.
Tim and I will be decorating for Christmas and putting up the tree, which I’m really looking forward to. I love all the holiday decor, lights and general festive ambiance that the holidays bring.
This is the time of year I’m most like my mom …

It’s been a fairly busy weekend. Friday night we watched Ava for Mark & Angel while they went to dinner. She was a little fussy, but cute as a button. Yesterday, we spent most of our day at Dawn’s raking leaves, painting some blemishes on the walls and hanging pictures. I also painted her front door a really bright red. It looks really good. She loves it. Sarah and I are both pretty sore today.
Earlier this afternoon I crawled up in the attic and ran some coax cable to our …

So found out a couple of hours ago about the Ft. Hood shooting. This hits close to home as Mark was stationed there during his Army service. I am incredibly saddened by this event and feel terrible for the families of those involved. I am, however, so thankful that Mark and Angel are no longer living there. In fact, my dad and I went to visit Mark and Angel one Thanksgiving and during that time we walked the whole base. I can’t imagine the terror of someone opening up fire …

Tim and I have been so busy lately! We have helped Dawn move into her new home, assisted my mom in her move to Ralph’s and this weekend it’s the wedding of the century!
Mom will officially be Betty Slavens after Saturday. I’m kind of sad about her leaving her old house. Even though I didn’t grow up there, it was still my home away from home all through college, Dallas and St. Louis. I will miss our Christmas mornings huddled around the tree in her living room. I’m sure we’ll …

We had our family birthdays tonight at my parent’s. With the money I received from everyone I will be able to tint the windows on my truck! Thanks so much everybody. We also got a state quarter set from my grandpa. That was really cool. I had been saving those for quite a while, but gave up on it. We’ll have to tuck those away somewhere. I bought Zuben a giant monster truck that made noise. They are going to hate me for that one! haha.
Don’t forget, they hockey schedule …
